US President Donald Trump has issued a statement regarding NATO, defense spending, and the United States' role in containing Russia.
"Without me, Russia would have ALL OF UKRAINE right now," Trump wrote on social media.
He also claimed to have secured an increase in NATO defense spending to 5% of GDP. "Everyone said it was impossible, but it happened because, above all, they are all my friends," the US President explained.
Trump expressed doubt regarding the Alliance's commitment to its allies: "Russia and China absolutely do not fear NATO without the United States, and I doubt NATO would be there for us if we really needed them."
At the same time, he offered assurances: "We will always stand by NATO, even if they won't stand by us."
The US President also recalled that he "single-handedly ended 8 wars," and that Norway "unwisely decided" not to award him the Nobel Peace Prize. "But that doesn't matter! What matters is that I saved millions of lives," he added.
"The only nation China and Russia fear and respect is the USA, rebuilt by DJT," Trump concluded.
