The government is urgently addressing the aftermath of a Russian strike on a bridge connecting Odesa and Izmail, with officials assuring the public that fuel prices will remain stable. First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced the measures on social media.
She stated that authorities are establishing the best possible alternative transport routes between different parts of the Odesa region. All relevant services have been mobilized, and actions are being coordinated with international partners.
"The region is supplied with all necessary resources to maintain humanitarian stability. There will be no price fluctuations, particularly regarding fuel costs," Svyrydenko emphasized.
The government is also ensuring the stability of banking and payment systems, simplifying passenger transit regulations, and expanding railway capacity. Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba has been appointed to coordinate these efforts.
However, fuel market expert Dmytro Leushkin previously warned that the destruction of the bridge in Mayaky could trigger a severe fuel crisis. He estimates that 60% of fuel imports pass through Danube ports, and blocking this route could lead to a price hike of at least 2 UAH and rolling shutdowns of gas stations in the eastern and southern regions.
