NABU is expected to conduct raids at the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine due to suspicions of inflated prices for defense procurement.
According to "Hvylya", citing a Politico article.
According to sources, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is preparing to conduct searches at the ministry. The investigative actions are related to possible malfeasance in contracts for military equipment supply when the department was headed by Rustem Umerov.
One of the cases of interest to investigators is the procurement of body armor. According to the investigation, this may have involved the supply of substandard products at inflated prices. Particular attention is being paid to the possible influence of businessman Timur Mindich, a close friend of Zelenskyy, on decision-making within the ministry.
The investigation is ongoing, and NABU officers intend to gain access to internal documentation related to procurement in the near future to establish all circumstances and the scale of the alleged violations.
Notably, NABU and SAPO previously exposed a criminal group that operated an illegal scheme in the energy sector. Members of this organization forced "Energoatom" counterparties to make payments in exchange for continued cooperation and to avoid the blocking of financial operations.
The scheme was led by businessman Timur Mindich, a former business partner of Zelenskyy. Funds were "laundered" through structures linked to Oleksandr Tsukerman and a traitor to Ukraine, ex-People's Deputy Andriy Derkach. Involved in the scheme were the current Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko, the Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk, and other officials.
Specifically, searches were conducted at the premises of the former Minister of Energy and current Minister of Justice, Herman Halushchenko, as well as at the "Energoatom" company. Investigators also targeted businessman Timur Mindich, who was previously linked to Zelenskyy's circle. Mindich had left the country before the searches.
We previously reported that Zelenskyy reacted to "Mindichgate", but there is an interesting nuance.
