Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, has announced the conclusion of the first day of trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, currently taking place in Geneva, Switzerland.

As reported by Hvylya, Umerov shared the update via his official social media account.

According to the NSDC head, following the general session, the parties continued their work in specialized groups. The discussions focused on purely practical aspects of the agenda.

"We have concluded the first day of trilateral talks in Geneva. After the general session, work continued in specific directional groups. Discussions focused on practical issues and the mechanics of potential solutions. Both the political and military blocs have finished their work for today," Umerov noted.

He also expressed gratitude to American partners for their constructive approach and readiness to maintain a working pace. A report on the results of the first day of consultations will be presented to Ukraine's President today.

"The political and military groups will resume work tomorrow morning," the NSDC Secretary summarized.

Earlier, while announcing the start of this round, Umerov emphasized that the Ukrainian delegation is operating within a framework clearly agreed upon by the Head of State.

"Security and humanitarian issues are on the agenda. We are working constructively, with focus, and without excessive expectations. Our task is to maximize progress on decisions that can bring a sustainable peace closer," he stressed before the meetings began.
