Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky once again claimed in a court hearing that the "attempted assassination of Mindich" was indeed real and announced new details of the incident.
The video of his statement was published by RBC-Ukraine.
According to the businessman, the incident in Israel was not a successful assassination but merely an attempt. He alleges that the incident involved Ukrainian citizens residing in Israel who were purportedly "given weapons from the Ukrainian embassy." Two suspects were detained and allegedly confessed: "one had a pistol, the other a knife."
Kolomoisky added that one of these Ukrainians "came to the house two weeks before the incident disguised as an Israeli journalist and questioned the maid about Mindich."
"Mindich himself was not in that house. But they did not know that," he clarified.
Responding to a police representative's statement that they were unaware of such facts, Kolomoisky remarked: "Of course, because they are not dealing with it..."
He also stressed that it is "beneficial for the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, that Mindich is alive and well."
Earlier, Ukraine's Ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniychuk, stated that no reports regarding an assassination attempt on Mindich had been received.
"The embassy does not possess information on this incident. No appeals have been lodged with law enforcement agencies by citizens regarding this matter," he said.
It is worth noting that Kolomoiskyi previously claimed in Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi District Court that an alleged assassination attempt on businessman Timur Mindich took place in Israel on November 28.
Background
In early November, anti-corruption bureau detectives conducted a series of searches targeting businessman Timur Mindich, a former head of the Energy Ministry, and the current head of the Ministry of Justice, Herman Halushchenko, as well as the premises of the "Energoatom" company. It was subsequently revealed that Mindich managed to leave Ukrainian territory literally a couple of hours before the investigators arrived.
Timur Mindich, who is one of the owners of the "Kvartal-95" studio and a former business partner of Volodymyr Zelensky, became a key figure in a large-scale corruption case dating back to the period of Zelensky's presidency.
In November, anti-corruption bodies launched an operation code-named "Midas," which uncovered a criminal network in the energy sector. According to investigation materials, members of the scheme extorted kickback payments of 10–15% of contract sums from "Energoatom" partners. Approximately $100 million was allegedly laundered through a shell structure in the capital.
The investigation suggests that Mindich had influence over former Energy Minister Halushchenko and former Defense Minister Umerov, although no official claims were filed against the latter. Following the scandal, President Zelensky introduced restrictive measures against Mindich and businessman Tsukerman, and Prime Minister Svyrydenko initiated the process of dismissing Halushchenko and Energy Minister Hrynchuk.
