Detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) are conducting searches at the central office of Ukraine's State Tax Service (STS), as well as at the regional departments of the STS in Khmelnytskyi and Mykolaiv regions.

As reported by Hvylya, a source within the tax service informed the newspaper Ekonomichna Pravda (EP) of the actions.

According to the source, the exact reasons for the searches have not yet been officially disclosed, but it is possible they may be related to the investigation of a large-scale corruption scheme in the energy sector.

However, the STS of Ukraine later officially confirmed that on December 10, NABU detectives conducted searches involving officials of the Main Directorate of the STS in Khmelnytskyi region and the Main Directorate of the STS in Mykolaiv region. Investigative actions were also carried out at the central STS office.

The criminal proceedings relate to events that took place in 2024 and concluded in the very beginning of 2025. They are connected to matters involving "risky enterprises."

"The details of the pre-trial investigation and the specifics of the case are the competence of law enforcement. The leadership and staff of the STS are fully assisting the anti-corruption bodies," the tax service stressed.

It is worth noting that on November 10, NABU detectives conducted a series of searches, initially targeting businessman Timur Mindich and a former Minister of Energy, and subsequently the current Minister of Justice, Herman Halushchenko, as well as the offices of the Energoatom company. It later emerged that Mindich managed to leave Ukraine just hours before the law enforcement visit.

The State Border Guard Service explained that the businessman allegedly crossed the border legally because he is the father of three minor children.

Furthermore, it was previously reported that 527 documents containing closed personal information about NABU detectives, journalists, politicians, officials, and representatives of security agencies were found in Mindych's so-called "back office."

We previously reported that the SBU and NABU conducted searches at Hanna Skorokhod's residence. She and her assistant were served with suspicion notices in a case concerning the attempted "sale" of National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) sanctions.
