China is providing critical support for Russian aggression in Ukraine and could end the war almost instantly by leveraging its economic influence over Moscow.
According to Bloomberg, this statement was made by Matthew Whitaker, the US Ambassador to NATO, during a discussion at the Munich Security Conference.
"China could call Vladimir Putin and end this war tomorrow by cutting off the supplies of dual-use technologies they are selling. China could stop buying Russian oil and gas," the diplomat emphasized, as reported by Hvylya.
The American ambassador noted that Russia's war against Ukraine is "completely enabled by China." Beijing and Moscow have significantly strengthened their partnership since the start of the invasion, leaving Russia critically dependent on the Asian giant for drone components and other military equipment.
Statistical data confirms this deepening cooperation: in January, Chinese ports unloaded 1.65 million barrels of Russian oil per day, the highest figure since March 2024.
Beyond security issues, the conference addressed the future of transatlantic relations. Representatives of the US Democratic Party sought to reassure European partners of their continued support.
"The Democratic Party is here for our allies. The vast majority of the American people do not want to see these relationships weakened and are committed to our allies," said Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
