Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has released grim new details regarding the Russian drone strike on a passenger train in the Kharkiv region. The terrorist attack resulted in confirmed fatalities, with several people still reported missing.
The President announced these updates in an official address.
According to updated figures, the strike claimed four lives. Four others remain missing, with rescuers currently searching the wreckage. Two individuals sustained injuries.
Zelensky clarified that the train was carrying over 200 passengers in total. The enemy deliberately targeted the civilian facility with three attack drones. One direct hit struck a carriage containing 18 people at the time.
"In any country, a drone strike on a civilian train would be viewed solely as terrorism. There would be no doubt about this qualification in Europe, America, the Arab world, China, or anywhere else. There is not, and cannot be, any military objective in destroying civilians in a train carriage," Zelensky emphasized.
The Head of State stressed that Russian forces are systematically expanding their capabilities to kill civilians, effectively investing in the "progress of terror." He called on the international community to respond harshly, noting that security can only be achieved through pressure on the aggressor and tangible support for Ukraine.
"Russia must be held accountable for its actions. This means accountability not just for strikes against our people and our lives, but for the very ability to conduct such attacks," the President concluded.
