Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that President Volodymyr Zelensky is prepared for a personal meeting with Vladimir Putin. The main goal of such talks would be to resolve outstanding issues, specifically regarding the occupied territories and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
Ukraine's top diplomat discussed the matter in an interview with European Pravda. According to Sybiha, only the heads of state can finalize the most difficult points of a peace agreement.
"The president is ready to meet with Putin to discuss and resolve precisely these issues," Sybiha emphasized.
However, the minister noted he sees no point in holding a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.
Sybiha also reported qualitative changes in the composition of the Russian delegation and some progress in the negotiation process. Specifically, he pointed to the results of a trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi, where "specifics" emerged. A separate track of negotiations took place between security officials from both countries, involving military intelligence and the General Staffs.
The parties held substantive discussions on ceasefire parameters and mechanisms for monitoring and verifying the truce, while also aligning terminology to prevent misinterpretations in future documents.
