Russia shows no intention of moving toward peace negotiations; instead, it is intensifying combat operations and weapons production, planning for active warfare into 2026. In response, Ukraine is planning offensive operations alongside its strategic defense.
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated this in an interview with LB Live.
According to the commander, Ukrainian leadership currently sees no signs that the enemy is preparing for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
"We see no signs that they are preparing for any peace negotiations or initiatives on the battlefield. On the contrary, we see an increase in the intensity of hostilities, a buildup of the enemy's offensive groupings, and increased production volumes of strike weapons, missiles, and drones," Syrskyi emphasized.
The Colonel-General stressed that the adversary's plans remain unchanged: to seize the entire territory of Ukraine. To achieve this, the Russian Federation is significantly expanding its industrial capacity. Specifically, Syrskyi noted, the enemy plans to deploy up to 1,000 drones per day.
Addressing the strategy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Commander-in-Chief noted that the army will conduct a strategic defensive operation but will not be limited to that alone.
"We understand perfectly well that victory cannot be won in defense. Therefore, accordingly, we will also conduct offensive operations. Of course, we will fight to seize the operational initiative," he declared.
Syrskyi is convinced that the only way to create conditions for negotiations is to inflict such losses on the enemy that force them to abandon active operations.
"No one will negotiate with the weak. Therefore, our task as the military is to continue the struggle, to continue combat operations, and to do so effectively in order to maximally degrade the enemy's combat potential: both human resources and weaponry," the Commander-in-Chief concluded.
