Poland remains the largest importer of one of Ukraine's products since the beginning of the year.
As reported by Hvylya, this is according to Agrotimes.ua, citing information from the State Customs Service.
For the first ten months of 2025, Ukrainian producers received $13.4 million for whey exports - this is 17.5% more compared to the same period last year. At the same time, physical supply volumes decreased by 16.4%, amounting to 13.8 thousand tons. This means that the products were sold at higher prices on foreign markets.
Poland remained the largest buyer of Ukrainian whey, accounting for more than a third of all exports in monetary terms (34.4%). China takes second place with a share of 27.9%, and Jordan rounds out the top three with 8.1%.
According to the Association of Milk Producers, total dairy exports from Ukraine in January-October 2025 grew by 9% in physical terms to 111.11 thousand tons. In monetary terms, the figure was even better - growth of 39% to almost $348 million.
For comparison, last year Ukraine exported 18.7 thousand tons of whey, which was 15.4% more than in 2023. Revenue then grew by 22.9% and reached $13.4 million. The main importers of Ukrainian whey in 2024 were Poland (26.4%), China (21.5%), and the Philippines (9.2%).
Overall, in 2024, Ukrainian producers exported 117.73 thousand tons of various dairy products worth $295 million. Compared to 2023, volumes grew by 8%, and profits by 14%.
It is worth noting that Poland still maintains restrictions on the import of certain Ukrainian grain crops - wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds, despite changes in EU trade rules. Meanwhile, on October 14, Ukraine and the European Union agreed to eliminate part of the tariffs and increase quotas for Ukrainian agricultural exports, and the updated trade agreement came into force on October 29.
In the current 2024/2025 marketing season, Poland also became the largest importer of Ukrainian soybean oil and soybean meal.
