Diplomatic circles in Europe and the United States are discussing a new peace scenario for Ukraine that envisions accelerated accession to the European Union as a potential foundation for ending the war with Russia.

According to Hvylya, citing the German publication Die Welt, Western politicians and negotiators are considering rapid EU membership in conjunction with political support and new security guarantees. As the publication notes, such a step could serve as a compelling argument for Ukrainian society should difficult decisions become necessary.

"Under certain options, this would be combined with providing additional security guarantees to Kyiv, as well as potential territorial concessions," the authors of the material emphasize.

Brussels understands that any peace agreements will require serious justification for Ukrainian citizens. Consequently, the prospect of forced European integration is currently being discussed as one of the primary incentives.

During behind-the-scenes discussions, 2027 has emerged as a target date for accession. However, most diplomatic sources call this timeframe unlikely due to complex bureaucratic procedures. A more realistic window for full membership is considered to be between 2028 and 2030.

Current European Union rules require candidate countries to meet strict criteria. Kyiv must implement deep reforms of its legal system, demonstrate progress in fighting corruption, and ensure economic stability, while any decision on accelerated entry must receive the unanimous support of all EU member states.
