President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that repair crews are working to restore electricity in Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, and other regions as of late Feb. 12 following a massive Russian strike targeting energy infrastructure with ballistic missiles.
As reported by "Hvylya," citing the presidential press service, the address marked the 1,450th day of the war.
Zelensky described a difficult night, noting that the aggressor launched 24 ballistic missiles, one guided missile, and over 200 attack drones. While air defense forces intercepted a significant number of targets, the Defense Minister is currently attending a Ramstein-format meeting with the primary goal of accelerating air defense deliveries.
"Russians must not get used to the idea that their missiles and 'Shaheds' help them in any way. They only complicate matters and undermine diplomatic opportunities," Zelensky emphasized.
The President also focused on the diplomatic front, warning ambassadors and Foreign Ministry representatives that silence from diplomatic institutions would be considered unsatisfactory performance, with concrete support results expected this week.
Regarding the negotiation process, the Ukrainian team remains in constant contact with the U.S. side. However, according to the President, there has been no clear response from Moscow regarding proposals for the coming week.
"Unfortunately, we do not yet have sufficiently firm answers from Russia. So far, we only hear further manipulations regarding 'Oreshnik,' which is certainly not about peace," he stressed.
Zelensky also harshly criticized the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) decision regarding Ukrainian athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych, who faced sanctions for honoring colleagues killed by Russian strikes.
"This is definitely not about peace, and not about justice. Sport should not be without memory and respect. Politics is when Russians hide under other passports and still get into competitions. Politics is when the International Olympic Committee fears the truth and thereby provokes chaos itself," the President declared.
Zelensky announced he had signed a decree awarding Heraskevych the Order of Freedom for his principled position.
