Russia launched a massive combined assault on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure overnight on Feb. 7. The enemy deployed a record number of attack drones and various missile types, primarily targeting energy facilities in western and central regions.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, radar troops detected 447 aerial targets. The arsenal included two Zircon hypersonic missiles, 21 Kh-101 cruise missiles, 16 Kalibrs, and 408 attack UAVs. The main targets were the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, and Vinnytsia regions.
President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on the aftermath of the strikes. He stated that the power grid, generation facilities, and distribution substations were the primary targets. Civil infrastructure also suffered damage alongside energy sites.
"A high-rise building was damaged in Rivne. In Ladyzhyn, Vinnytsia region, drones struck the administrative building of a regular agricultural college," the head of state noted. He added that damage was also recorded in the Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions, with strikes affecting the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions as well.
Defense forces demonstrated high efficiency, destroying or suppressing the vast majority of targets with electronic warfare. Twenty-four missiles (14 Kh-101s and 10 Kalibrs) and 382 drones were shot down. However, 13 missile hits and 21 drone strikes were recorded across 19 locations.
Zelensky emphasized the need to strengthen air defenses to protect against energy terror.
"Moscow must be deprived of the ability to pressure Ukraine with cold. For this, we need missiles for Patriots, NASAMS, and other systems. Every shipment helps us get through this winter," the president stressed.
