Ukraine and SpaceX have launched a joint effort to combat the use of satellite internet by Russian forces. A new system of restrictions is being introduced to render illegal devices inoperable.
The announcement was made by Ukraine's Minister of Defence, Mykhailo Fedorov.
According to Fedorov, the parties have already taken initial steps that yielded rapid results in countering Russian drones. A more comprehensive technical solution is now being implemented.
"The next step is implementing a system that will allow only authorized terminals to operate within Ukraine," Fedorov stated.
The official announced that instructions for verifying Starlink accounts will be released to Ukrainian users in the coming days. Consequences for those who ignore the procedure will be immediate.
"Unverified terminals will be disconnected," the minister warned.
At the same time, the Ministry assures users that the registration process has been designed to be simple, fast, and convenient. Fedorov also expressed gratitude to Starlink and SpaceX for their cooperation and proactive support of Ukraine.
As a reminder, Russian forces have recently begun the mass use of Starlink terminals on attack drones.
